Five things you (probably) don't know about me.

Ed passed me the meme, and far be it from me to break the chain...

1. I'm an only child who lived through 3 divorces before high school.  I'm the prototypical gen-X latchkey geek kid.  I'd see my father twice a year for a week growing up, and my mother worked a full-time job every day that I can remember until I moved out.  But I have a better relationship with both of my parents than just about anyone I know.

2. I once sat in for Bootsy Collins.  Okay, only in a very slanted way, but some members of P-Funk came to a party at a friend's house one night, and we had a great jam session.  As a 28-year old white guy playing bass, there's pretty much no more shocking moment than to have George Clinton turn to you bobbing his head and go "yeeeeeaaaahhhh."

3. I can't play video games anymore.  I developed an addiction to the original Half-Life and several of it's derivatives back around 2001, and had to quit cold turkey.  I can't even watch people play FPS games anymore without getting twitchy.  You probably think I'm joking, but I'm deadly serious.  Drugs and alcohol have nothing on Counterstrike when it comes to my personal temptations.

4. I almost got expelled from high school.  After running a fake campaign for class president (for a student that didn't exist... he almost won on write-ins), I started an underground school paper just to exert my prototypical gen-X angst.    The administration frowned.  I managed to evade serious consequences by instead graduating early.  The underground paper is still being published by a group of seniors every year at my alma mater.

5. Despite having worked with Notes now for (take a breath) 15 years, I've only been to Lotusphere once in 1995.  This year marks only my second trip to the Domino-Mecca.

I'll nominate Bruce, my co-presenter, the Controls Caddy, Mary Beth Raven, and the self-proclaimed guru.  Have at it gang.

1 - funny about the campaign for a fake student - we did the same thing at my girlfriend's college - we had a campaign for "john doe - you know the name, but do you know the face".
