Looks like there's some sort of orchestra pit on the stage.  I think the Symphony puns are going to get old.

Drumming on the "Emergence" theme, lots of slides & visuals on patterns.

HA!! Orchestra went from a poppy redo of Beethoven's No. 9, to Zepplin's Kashmir.  MUCH better.  (No one should "remix" Beethoven.)

On to Barber of Seville... can't ever hear this without thinking of Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd.

Bob Costas.  (REALLY!??!?!?!)

Dear Lotus, some of us really don't like the Patriots, even if you guys are from Boston.  Actually, we're IT guys -- we largely don't care about sports at all.

Apparently we bring insight to sportscasters so they can later pat themselves on the back for predicting the emergence of China.  :-/

"Community-centric" collaboration.  Here comes the mandatory discussion of Facebook.

Whoa... Mike Rhodin actually said "anyone remember knowledge management?"  Relating social software to KM -- which I think a lot of us did last year.

Nice jab at MS.  "They're driving while looking in the rearview mirror."

AHAHAHAHA

Well, it's certainly nice to be quoted in full screen!  I think I'll have to settle for having my name misspelled.  I guess I'm not in the Lotus dictionary.  hehe

The Google gadget stuff is quite cool.  I'd seen some early prototypes of this months ago, and there's some very exciting possibilities here.

The text recognition is supposed to use regular expressions -- so I guess we should all start boning up.

iPhone provisioning is via DWA.  Pretty slick, not what a lot of us had wished for, but it's a start.

Russ Holden is talking about Domino 8.5 capabilities.  We've been beta testing the server versions, and they've been quite solid.

Mmmmmm.... anti-spam appliance for Domino.

Maureen is demoing the web 2.0 dev stuff in DDE live.  Nice to see her on stage.  Man, I mostly glad that it's public now, so I can start talking about what we're hearing in the App Dev DP group.

"Mashups"  *sigh*  Interesting technology.  Why do I have the feeling that I need Websphere Application Server 19.5, DB2 22.1, Tivoli Directory Disintegator, and the new Lotus blah blah server?  Still, lots of potential.

Bluehouse.  Fun stuff.  I find myself wondering whether it's a redeployable infrastructure inside a firewall.  Why wouldn't I want to do the exact same thing inside the firewall?.

Comments

1 - "Kill The Wabbit" was indeed Wagner. The Barber of Seville cartoon was a different one:

"Welcome to my shop
Let me cut your top
Let me shave your crop
Dain-tily"

That aside, I want more dope on this Tivoli Directory Disintegrator you mentioned, Nathan. None of the other blogs seemed to have picked up on it. Is it enterprisey and otherwise NewSpeak-compliant? Will it help me leverage my synergies in a vertically-integrated sort of way?

2 - I was interested to see that the bluehouse website front page runs on CakePHP, the login redirects to a *.do (so I guess struts/J2ee/Servlet container) and the feedback is a regular domino web app.

3 - Hey Nathan, the name misspelling will be fixed in the next release - OGS 2.0! Sorry about that. I missed it but saw this entry, so we'll check it out.

Chris

4 - I saw the Barber of Seville mentioned elsewhere (Alan, LSLive?) but I swear that Kill The Wabbit was The Ride of the Valkyrie, no?

5 - The "poppy redo" of the 9th was just a cover of Trans-Siberian Orchestra's song from their album "Beethoven's Last Night".

Bluehouse inside the firewall? Isn't that Lotus Connections 2.0? Emoticon I think it's a good point though.
